Desire
desire (2005). Cast paper (handmade from abaca and sabai) on wire armature, hula dancer toy, yarn, slips of handmade hemp paper, ceramic pendant, leather cord. 6" x 4.5" x 3" closed, 4.5" leather cord, 69" yarn poem.

This paper jaw is meant to hang from the neck as adornment. Inside, tied to the hula dancer's legs, is a poem by Mary Oliver ("Dogfish") written on tiny slips of paper, one stanza per slip, and tied together, which can be pulled out of the box and ends in a Celtic pendant.
